Started out a normal enough work day. Put on the Dominos car topper and headed out on the deiveries on the screen. Wasnt a bad day until one run off Silverdale in Conroe. I pull up and see a few youngish mexican guys standing on the porch. Nothing out of the usual. As I walk up on the porch I notice 6 puppies that couldnt be more that a week old lying on the concrete all wet so I asked about them. They told me the mom got stuck under the fence trying to move them out of the rain almost drown all of them so he took them away from her. We talk about them a little more and I offer to take the pups and the mother to a vet to be cared for and possibly adopted out. He talked to his buds for a sec them turned around and said theyre keeping the rest but I could have the white one with the holes in it. I picked up the one pup and loaded him in the car. He could fit in the palm of my hand and his eyes werent even open yet. At the red light I noticed something strange. I rolled him over and almost lost my breakfast. This innocent pup, who hasnt even been alive long enough to play in the grass or enjoy a good belly rub was infested with maggots. They were coming from everywhere and yet he was still alive. breathing deeply and squeeking everytime i put him back in the shirt in my passenger seat to keep him warm. I called my vet and they said all they could do was put him down for me. I walked into the vet softly sobbing at yet another life that would taken too soon. The receptionist asked me what happened and I explained the story then she started to cry also. We found the number for animal control. I had the pups owners address, names, everything. I handed him over to the vet tech to be put to sleep when the ACO called back. They were at the house. The mother dog was still stuck under the fence, the pups still layed on the concrete on the porch. The guys were inside eating the $50 worth of pizza and wings i had delivered to them an hour earlier. They siezed all of the dogs including a male from the back. Last I heard the ACO kept the mother bc of her good nature even when injured and kept from her pups and all the pups already had reserved homes.
Sorry it was so long, Feels good to get it of my chest. the only other people who know are my vet, my hubby and my friend Tiff
